Soccer World Cup

Sport The French soccer team has been eliminated from the World Cup in South Africa last week... After another defeat against the host nation our team, coached by Raymond Domenech, came home dead last in the group A and that's not the worst part of it. In fact I don't know what's the worst part of it : having one of our good players (Nicolas Anelka) excluded from the team for having insulted the coach in private ? having the team refusing to perform their daily training session to protest against this exclusion ? having our coach refusing to shake hands with the oposite team's coah at the end of the last match ? seeing our national team playing the worst soccer ever whereas all the players are individually good ?...I don't know.

But I do know what's good about all this (there's always hope !) : After six loooooong years Raymond Domenech is finally fired and will never ever coach our national team again !!! Maybe the French team'll start playing soccer again now. Moreover having our team eliminated from this world cup brings a second little piece of joy : I don't have to hear vuvuzelas anymore :-D !

Too hot to blog

Sunset As you may have noticed the past week was quite poor in terms of blogging for me. The reasons are numerous but one of them may interest you : it's too damn hot to blog...and I'm not yet on holidays so it's even hotter because I'm suited up all day at work :( !

Just to give you some landmarks what I call "too hot to blog" in Paris is 30°C (around 86°F), even if it's a temperature we reach every summer I'm still not used to it here in town (as much as I love Paris when it's 30°C I'd rather be on the beach..and/or eating ice cream ;) !). So let me apologize one last time for not having blogged lately, I'll post more in the coming days as my others reasons not to blog vanishes (at least I hope they will ^_^ !).

And to conclude this very small post : Rest In Peace Michael Jackson :(

Holiday (tiny one)

Jesus Christ Today was a day off. It's a national holiday in France to commemorate the Ascension of Jesus. Lucky us : today was also one of the warmest day of the last pasts weeks so it was VERY pleasant to hang out in the town (and I sure did !). That was the good part of this post ;) For the sad one : I will not blog during the coming days.

Don't worry, "the coming days" means until Monday only :) ! So no reason to freak out. It won't change you a lot anyway as I barely post more than once a week lol. In fact the only thing that changes is this very post :) Usually, instead of this pathetic little post of apology, you should have had a normal post (i.e. longer, with facts and good tips in it). Oh by the way, I apologized about not posting anything interesting instead of this little text but I did not tell you why I haven't the time to post a real thing here. Let's do that :

As we (me and my friends) knew ages ago that this day was holiday we planned a lot of things to do. In fact we planned so many things that I'll have less free time than when I work lol ! By the way I should go to bed now because we have a 48h non-stop planing starting tomorrow, I'd better be in good shape lol.

Once again sorry for this very little thing (at least you'd have learn that the Ascension of Jesus is a day off in France ;) )

Just a joke

Clown Just a little joke because I'm in the mood for it as I've been reading quite a lot of french bashing lately and found this joke in the middle of it which I, surprisingly, found amusing, so here it goes (and I hope it will bring at least a smile in your day ^^ ) :

Sitting together on a train, traveling through the Swiss Alps, are a French man, an American man, an old Greek woman and a young blonde beautiful Swiss girl. The train goes into a dark tunnel and a few seconds later there is the sound of a loud slap. When the train emerges from the tunnel, the Frenchman has a bright red hand print on his cheek. No one speaks. The old Greek woman thinks: The Frenchman must have groped the blonde in the dark, and she slapped his cheek. The blonde Swiss girl thinks: That Frenchman must have tried to grope me in the dark, but missed and fondled the old lady and she slapped his cheek. The Frenchman thinks: The American must have groped the blonde in the dark. She tried to slap him but missed and got me instead. The American thinks: I can't wait for another tunnel, so I can slap that Frenchman again !

Spring's coming in Paris !

Spring in parisWinter's gone ! The sun's been shinning for a whole week now in Paris, and even if it's just the beginning of spring and if some gloomy days are still to come : it's already great to have such a weather :)

It all started a week ago : the sun was shinning when I woke up...weird. I had my breakfast as usual, got a shower as usual, suited up as usual, and got out of my flat to go to work as usual...I noticed the second weird thing as soon as I had one foot outside the building : the temperature was nothing close to cold, watching a digital pharmacy sign I learned it was higher than 10°C (50°F)...nice :) ! Temperature

The day after that, same scenario...and one additional great spring features : skirts :) !!! I saw ladies wearing skirts from time to time as I walked in the town...smells like summer's coming :) ! To tell you the truth I even started again to lunch outside, in a little park, just to enjoy the sun and the pleasant show of people passing by with a smile on their face. Maybe I may even start again to take pictures of my beloved town and post them here ;) ...I guess I surely will :) (so keep tuned ;) ).

I don't have a lot of free time those days, but here what's incoming in the next days/weeks on my blog :

  • Christmas decorations
  • Christmas temporary things you may encounter in Paris (such as huge Christmas trees, fake Santa, etc.)
  • Christmas villages
  • photos showing how cold it is in Paris (I mean it's not that cold, but still a little bit...well, you'll see ;))

Any other ideas are more than welcome of course :) !

My new camera

Been a very long time without new articles ! Well, high time for a new one, don't you think ? So here is one, short but sweet :D In fact I recently had a brand new camera (to be honest my old "camera" was my phone, Sony Ericsson w810i, which makes very good pictures..but which is a phone ^^). So I had this brand new camera, and went for a walk (or two :p ) in Paris just to test it, and checking my blog I realized that it's been ages since I posted anything so I decided to make a new article just to show you some of the pics I took.

First one : a garden i really like in Paris (and I must confess it's weird I had not talked about it in my post about spots for a pick-nick) : The "Montsouris garden", in the South of Paris : Montsouris Parc Pretty nice isn't it ? I also have some really good photos of ducks there, but I'll spare you ;)

Second (and Third) picture : The Louvre Museum (once again : weird I had not talked about it in my "must see" article...) Louvre (please notice the moon, I'm pretty proud of it ;) )

Louvre (I guess the kings who lived there at the time liked to see themselves a glamorous way ;) )

Well, that's it for now. I'll try to add new articles very soon (that's a great excuse to use my new camera :) ! I love it, really...Note for myself : make a nice video to post on this blog too ), by the way : sorry for the quality of the pictures, I know they're not as sharp as they should be, I'm just starting to learn how to use my new camera, the next ones will be much better (I hope ;) )

See you soon, and if you would like to have a picture of something in particular in Paris : just ask, I'll be glad to hear :) !
